ClamXav is a totally free virus checker and antivirus program and scanner for Mac OS X system. It uses the tried, tested and very popular ClamAV open source antivirus engine as a back end. Version for Mac OSX Tiger (10.4) and Leopard (10.5). Older versions rans on MacOSX 10.3 (Panther) too. Back in the days before OS X, the number of viruses which attacked Apple Macintosh MacOS users totalled somewhere between about 60 and 80. Today, the number of viruses actively attacking OS X users is very small. However, this doesn't mean we should get complacent about checking incoming email attachments or file downloads from web via webbrowsers with WWW sites.

This version of ClamXav is in Universal binary and works on OSX 10.4 and 10.5 on both PowerPC (PPC) and MacIntel.

ClamXav works on Apple Mac OS X Servers in 10.4 and 10.5 version of system.

Program reports its own version and the Clam AV engine's version number along with definition upgrade date at end of each system or files scan.

It has some languages versions, among others Danish, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Spanish and Taiwanese.

It based on 0.95 ver. of Clam engine.

Moreover ClamAV has version for Windows (ClamWin) and for Linux.
